Building a life off the beaten path

  • I wasn’t always living this self-sufficient, off-grid mountain life. Like many, I followed the path I thought I was supposed to—college, corporate jobs, mortgages, endless bills, and that ever-present feeling that something was missing.

    So I walked away.
For years, I wandered—across states, continents, and ways of living—searching for something deeper. I lived in tipis, off-grid homesteads, and intentional communities.

I learned how to grow food, harvest rain and spring water, build shelter, and live in rhythm with the land.

I birthed my son in a wood-fired bathhouse on a mountainside.
I traveled through South America with a baby on my front and backpack on my back.
I survived wildfires, harsh winters, and the raw, beautiful realities of remote living.

Eventually, something in me wanted to root—to stop roaming and start building. A life that was truly mine.

That’s how Off Grid Mountain Life was born.

Today, after more than a decade of living fully off the grid, I’ve created a life that isn’t controlled by the system—but shaped by rhythm, resourcefulness, and real freedom.

And now, I’m here to help you explore what’s possible, too.

Our Mission: More Than Just Off-Grid Living

Off Grid Mountain Life is about more than solar panels and wood stoves.
It’s about living intentionally. Creating a life you love.
And walking away from the noise to return to something real.

This isn’t about escaping modern life—it’s about building something better.
A simpler, freer, more connected way of living.
